Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
