The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
